Without knowing it, we had discovered the strategy that is complete when only Horn clauses are used.&#8221;<\/p><cite><em>[<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#ColmerauerAndRoussel1996\">Colmerauer and Roussel, 2006<\/a><em>]<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>With this system, and the idea of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#Colmerauer1975\">metamorphosis grammars<\/a>&#8221; (a generalization of what later became known as &#8220;definite clause grammars&#8221;), the team was able to implement a natural language <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#HommeMachine1973\">man-machine communication system<\/a>. The following year, the team released <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#Prolog1\">Prolog 1<\/a>, the classic Marseille Prolog that quickly spread to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#Edinburgh\">Edinburgh<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#Leuven\">Leuven<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#Warsaw\">Warsaw<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#Hungary\">Budapest<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#Imperial\">London<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/index.html#Waterloo\">Waterloo<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/prolog\/\">beyond<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now the friends of Alain Colmerauer are calling for 2022 to be &#8220;The Year of Prolog&#8221;. They&#8217;re marking the 50th anniversary with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An Alain COLMERAUER Prize awarded by an international jury for the most significant achievement in Prolog technology.<\/li><li>A \u201cProlog School Bus\u201d that will travel to reintroduce declarative programming concepts to the younger generation. This is a long-term initiative that will be initiated during the year. The purpose of this \u201cTour de France\u201d (and elsewhere) will be to familiarize schoolchildren with Prolog, as they are already familiar with the <a href=\"https:\/\/scratch.mit.edu\">Scratch language<\/a>.
