{"id":958,"date":"2017-01-06T09:48:57","date_gmt":"2017-01-06T17:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mcjones.org\/dustydecks\/?p=958"},"modified":"2018-06-10T16:42:11","modified_gmt":"2018-06-11T00:42:11","slug":"miscellaneous-lisp-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mcjones.org\/dustydecks\/archives\/2017\/01\/06\/958\/","title":{"rendered":"Miscellaneous Lisp updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently I made some long-delayed updates to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\">History of LISP<\/a>. \u00a0In the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/lisp15_family\/#LISP_I_and_LISP_1.5_for_IBM_704,_709,_7090_\">Lisp I\/1.5\u00a0for IBM 704, 709, 7090<\/a>\u00a0section, I added links to the excellent work by Andru Livisi (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonoma.edu\/users\/l\/luvisi\/lisp\/lisp15.tar.gz\">here<\/a>) and Dave Pitts (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cozx.com\/dpitts\/ibm7090.html\">here<\/a>) for running LISP on emulators.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/other_lisp15\/\">Other Lisp 1.5 implementations<\/a>, I added a mention of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/other_lisp15#LISP_1.5_for_IBM_M44_\">LISP 1.5 for IBM M44<\/a>. The M44\u00a0was an experimental machine that served as a testbed for some of the\u00a0earliest virtual machine research.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/other\/\">Other Lisps<\/a>\u00a0section I added\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/other#Lisp_1.6_for_IBM_1130_\">Lisp 1.6 for IBM 1130 (Boston Latin School)<\/a>,\u00a0which was the first Lisp of Guy L. Steele Jr., who went on to work on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/maclisp_family\/#LISP_1.5\/1.6\/MACLISP_for_PDP-6\/10_\">MacLisp<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/scheme_family#Scheme_\">Scheme<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/maclisp_family\/#NIL,_S-1_Lisp_\">NIL<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/common_lisp_family\/\">Common Lisp<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/parallel#Connection_Machine_Lisp_\">Connection Machine Lisp<\/a>. \u00a0I also added\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/other\/#MIT_PDP_11_LISP_\">PDP-11 LISP (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)<\/a>,\u00a0which was the first Lisp of Richard M. Stallman, who went on to work on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/maclisp_family\/#LISP_1.5\/1.6\/MACLISP_for_PDP-6\/10_\">MacLisp<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/maclisp_family\/#ZetaLisp_\">Lisp Machine Lisp<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/embedded\/#Emacs_Lisp_\">Emacs Lisp<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/embedded\/\">Embedded Lisps<\/a>\u00a0section I added\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/embedded#XLISP_\">XLISP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I made various additions in other sections including\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/scheme_family#Scheme_\">Scheme<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.softwarepreservation.org\/projects\/LISP\/common_lisp_family\/\">Common Lisp<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently I made some long-delayed updates to\u00a0History of LISP. \u00a0In the\u00a0Lisp I\/1.5\u00a0for IBM 704, 709, 7090\u00a0section, I added links to the excellent work by Andru Livisi (here) and Dave Pitts (here) for running LISP on emulators.
