If that link doesn\u2019t work, you can read my final submitted version <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcjones.org\/paul\/In-search-of-Fortran-accepted_version.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote the article to chronicle the search I began in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcjones.org\/dustydecks\/archives\/2003\/11\/19\/11\/\">late 2003<\/a> to find the source code for the original FORTRAN compiler for the IBM 704. Much of the search was documented right here on this Dusty Decks blog, which I created in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcjones.org\/dustydecks\/archives\/2004\/07\/04\/2\/\">July 2004<\/a> as a sort of advertisement.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d like to thank Burt Grad for encouraging me to write the article.
